The MAC(Media Access Control) address is a unique value that associated with a network adapter of your system. Its also known as hardware addresses or physical addresses.
MAC Address Format:
12-digit hexadecimal numbers/48 bits in length
MM:MM:MM:SS:SS:SS or MM-MM-MM-SS-SS-SS
where first 6-digit are number of adapter manufacturer and other 6-digit are represents the serial number assigned by the manufacturer.
To get your systerm MAC address ...
Windows XP, 2000, NT
1 ) Open the Start Menu then select "Run".
2 ) Type "cmd" then click OK or hit Enter.
3 ) In the Command Prompt, type "ipconfig /all" and hit Enter.
4 ) You can see Physical Address there, this is also your MAC address.
Windows ME, 98, 95
1 ) Open the Start Menu then select "Run".
2 ) Type "winipcfg" then click OK or hit Enter.
3 ) In the drop down menu select your network card.
4 ) Note the Adapter address, this is the MAC address.
Windows Vista
1 ) Open the Start Menu.
2 ) Click Control Panel, Control Panel will open.
3 ) Select Classic View for Control Panel. (from right top drop down menu)
4 ) Click on "Network and Sharing Center".
5 ) Select "Manage Network Connections" from the list on the left side menu.
6 ) Right click on the connection name, you are trying to find the MAC address.
7 ) Select "Properties" from popup menu.
8) You will found your MAC address in "Properties".
Windows 7
1 ) Open the Start Menu.
2 ) Click Control Panel, Control Panel will open.
3 ) Select "Network and Internet".
4 ) Click "Network and Sharing Center" in "Network and Internet".
5 ) Select "Change Adapter Settings" from the list on the left side menu.
6 ) Right click on the connection name, you are trying to find the MAC address.
7 ) Select "Properties" from popup menu.
8) You will found your MAC address in "Properties".
MacOS Older Version
1 ) Go to the Apple Menu.
2 ) Select "System Preferences" and "Select Network".
3 ) Select "Built-In Ethernet" or "Other network card" from pulldown list.
4 ) Select the TCP/IP tab, You will see MAC address as "Ethernet Address".
MacOS 10.2 or Higher
1 ) Go to the Apple Menu.
2 ) Select "About This Mac".
3 ) Select "More Info" and Select "System Profile" tab.
4 ) Under Network Overview MAC address will be shown as "Ethernet Address".
Linux, Solaris, AIX, UNIX
1 ) Login as "root".
2 ) At the command Prompt type "hostname | nslookup" and hit "Enter".
3 ) At the command Prompt type "ifconfig -a" and hit "Enter".
Nokia mobile phones
1 ) On the home screen, enter *#MAC0WLAN# or *#62209526#
2 ) wait for popup appear with your MAC
BlackBerry mobile phones
1 ) On the home screen, press Menu key.
2 ) Select "Options" from "Menu".
3 ) Select "Status" from "Options".
4 ) You will see WLAN MAC address there, WLAN MAC is your MAC address.
Android phones
1 ) go to "All apps / programs menu" and Select "Settings" from the list.
2 ) Select "About Phone" option.
3 ) Select "Hardware Information" or "Status". (On your Android version)
4 ) On the list MAC Address appears.
